The Palm Springs Police Department shot a man who was shouting anti-gay slurs and wielding a knife outside a barbershop this past Thursday, reports The Advocate. 

Authorities may have thwarted a plan by 23-year-old Conor Climo to firebomb a Las Vegas synagogue and LGBT bar. 

Climo was arrested this past Wednesday and U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy Koppe ordered him to remain in federal custody until his court hearing scheduled for August 23. 

The co-organizer of a Straight Pride event being proposed in California elicited laughter among the City Council chamber and its members on Thursday after he claimed his organization is "a totally peaceful racist group."

The server noticed the note which read “[Zero] if he wasn’t gay” and alerted his manager who then confronted the man, Frederic Sterry Smith, 62, outside.
