CA honors LGBTQ veterans with official memorial

The LGBTQ Veterans Memorial at the Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City as the official state LGBTQ veterans memorial.

California has made LGBTQ history this week, being the first state to honor LGBT veterans with a memorial. 

Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB2439 on Monday which officially recognizes the LGBTQ Veterans Memorial at the Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City as the official state LGBTQ veterans memorial.

Court dismisses case against Rep. Susan Davis and Pride flag

Today the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit dismissed the case. 

Back in July of 2017 Chris Sevier, an attorney and longtime opponent of same-sex marriage filed a suit against Rep. Susan Davis for displaying a Pride flag outside her office. Sevier also included Reps. Alan Lowenthal of Long Beach, Don Beyer of Virginia and Earl Blumenauer of Oregon in the case. 

Frontier suspends pilot for participating in group hate towards trans child

The online harassment by adults toward a 12-year-old transgender student named Maddie in Achille, Okla., has extended into corporate America. A pilot for Frontier Airlines has been suspended on suspicion that he was involved in the social media comments, some violent, that led to restraining orders and an FBI investigation. 

Pernicano's should close escrow in Jan. 2019, what's next?

The long closed and still vacant Pericano's restaurant is in escrow according to Jeannine Savory the agent handling the sale, but the building's fate is still up in the air. 

"Yes, the property is in escrow; scheduled to close in January 2019," Savory told San Diego Gay and Lesbian News

Video of Chula Vista police officer tackling teen prompts investigation

Chula Vista officers tckle teenager to the ground and spark investigation.

A Snapchat video of a teenage girl being thrown to the ground by Chula Vista police officers has prompted an investigation. 

It happened on Wednesday, August 15 at SDG&E Park on Hilltop Drive. An officer says a teenager flashed a gang sign and when the situation escalated more officers were called in. 

Portland man who threatened to bomb AIDS housing complex arrested

A Portland man was arrested because of threats he made to residents at an HIV/AIDS shelter. 

Tenants of the building say Scott Wayne Smith lives near the Hopewell Apartments and they have had run-ins with him before.
