Hey, San Diego, spend two nights with Miss Gay Golden State USofA

SAN DIEGO -- USofA Pageants will host back-to-back performances in San Diego this coming weekend, featuring some of the finest drag queens and female impersonators, starting with a revue show followed by the Miss Gay Golden State USofA pageant.

At Bourbon Street San Diego on Saturday, March 15, USofA Pageants will showcase some of the best in the art of female impersonation, including Ladonna Monroe, Justice Counce, Kalil Valentino and Miss Gay Texas USofA Jenna Skyy.

On the following night, the Miss Gay Golden State USofA pageant will bring a night of spectacular entertainment, highlighting aspects of the most eye-catching, engaging LGBT entertainment. Look for entertainment from Grace Towers, Paris Sukomi Max, Maya Montana, Ladonna Monroe, Catia Lee Love, Kalil Valentino, Ivory Onyx, Kelly Mantle ("Rupaul's Drag Race" Season 6) and featuring Miss Gay USofA 2013, Shae Shae LaReese.

Justin Webb, promoter for this open regional preliminary to Miss Gay USofA, has arranged to bring these noteworthy performances to San Diego. The Arkansas-born promoter said he saw in San Diego a “hotbed of talented entertainers” that had not yet been given the opportunity to compete in a pageant of this magnitude. Moreover, it gives talented San Diegans a shot at winning the $4,000 prize, and offers the top two performers a chance to qualify for the Miss Gay USofA pageant in Dallas.

Justin said he believes that it is the “professionalism” that makes USofA Pageants stand out from the rest. The pageantry dishes out praise for “creativity, glamour, elegance, sophistication and desire to entertain,” and doesn’t discriminate against any candidates, he said.

With a production of this size and scope, Justin said he hopes Miss Gay Golden State USofA will kick-start an increase in awareness and appreciation for not only pageantry but also female impersonation as an art form. He insists that this represents the finest drag show in the nation, with appearances by former and current national titleholders, a contestant from "Rupaul's Drag Race" Season 6, and “a show-stopping production number by the bearded lady and former San Diego resident Grace Towers.”

Justin hopes this will become an annual San Diego event.
