The Hillcrest Business Association (HBA) has partnered with the Escuela Libre De Arquitectura (ELDA) design school from Tijuana to plan a community park on Normal Street between University Avenue and Harvey Milk Street.
During the last six weeks, the community has pooled their ideas together and provided their input for a proposed neighborhood park. There are three preliminary project designs and San Diegans were given the opportunity to look them over at the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market.
On Sunday May 31, the students from ELDA will cross over from Mexico and assess the proposed site at the corner of Harvey Milk Street and Normal Avenue. They would like to view the area both before and after the Farmer’s Market in order to get ideas about how to best design and utilize the space.
The ELDA will work closely with the community as they bring their ideas to the table. This united effort ensures that the Hillcrest community has open dialogue with the designers and therefore gives the park a cultural and communal atmosphere
You can meet the academic design team at the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market on Sunday, May 31, from 12:30 pm to 3 pm.
Once all of the design details and location have been agreed upon, the Hillcrest Business Association, The Uptown Planners, and the Hillcrest Town Council will review the outline hopefully by year's end.
