Woman seen in video allegedly taking UPS items from other's doorsteps

A woman in San Marcos is going onto people’s doorsteps and seemingly helping herself to delivered UPS packages Fox 5 is reporting.

The lady is seen on video knocking on a resident’s door at Corbel Way in North County. She seems to realize she is being filmed and tries to shield her face with a flyer. When no one answers the door, she picks up the parcels and walks away.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department tweeted this alert this morning:

“Be on the lookout for a woman wanted in connection with a package theft in @sanmarcoscity

The video was captured on March, 31, at 1 pm. The Sheriff’s Department is requesting the public’s help in finding the woman.

If you are going to have packages delivered to your house, here are a few tips from the police department to make sure they are not stolen:

  • Choose the option to sign for delivery
  • Use tracking numbers
  • Track the delivery status with email or text alerts
  • Ship packages to an alternate locations, such as your office
  • Leave special delivery instructions, example: behind bushes, back patio
  • Choose delivery pickup
  • Insure packages
  • Get to know your carriers
