San Diego State University has a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and social justice.
The commitment was recently recognized, as SDSU was ranked among the top 50 universities for LGBT students by College Choice, ranking 31 in the country.
"This recognition is a testament to the hard work of the SDSU students, faculty and staff who have advocated for the inclusion of LGBTQ+ programs and services on campus," said Christopher Lujan, SDSU Pride Center coordinator. "It also serves as a reminder that our work to create a strong queer voice will be a continuous process that will change and adjust as the needs of the LGBTQ+ community transform."
About the rankings
The rankings are based on campus commitment to providing resources to students, staff and faculty and the availability of tools that encourage education, support, safety and inclusion campus wide.
"We began with a base list of regionally accredited universities that are highly rated by Campus Pride, a website that rates the LBGTQ-friendliness of colleges," said Christian Amondson managing editor of College Choice. "Schools that passed this initial criterion were then evaluated and ranked based on academic reputation, student satisfaction, affordability, average financial aid awarded and return on investment."
