He promises to keep California a national beacon of inclusiveness.
Todd Gloria was officially sworn into office today as the California State Assemblymember for the 78th Assembly District.
During his time in San Diego, Assemblymember Gloria served as City Councilmember, San Diego City Council President, and the City of San Diego’s Interim Mayor.
He released a statement today saying that he could not be more excited to get to work at his new appointment.
“I ran for this seat because I know that the issues that matter most to San Diegans like affordable housing, homelessness, environment, and transportation infrastructure need a champion in Sacramento,” he said. “That is exactly what I intend to be for my constituents.”
He will take the place of LGBT ally Speaker Emeritus Toni Atkins as she heads over to the State Senate.
As he heads to Sacramento, Gloria knows the influence California has on the entire nation, and that responsibility is not lost on him.
“I am looking forward to working under the leadership of our Speaker Anthony Rendon as well as my Assembly and Senate colleagues to ensure California continues to be a beacon of inclusive, progressive policies that can be replicated across America,” said Gloria
Gloria’s oath of office was given today at the California State Capitol in Sacramento.
