Baldwin is the first member of the LGBT community elected to the U.S. Senate
The first member of the LGBT community elected to the U.S. Senate, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, was presented the international Jose Julio Sarria Civil Rights Award this past Sunday.
Sarria a War World II Veteran & proud Latino became the first openly gay candidate to run for public office in America in 1961
Four years later he founded the International Court System which has chapters in over 70 cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
San Diego City Commissioner Nicole Murray-Ramirez, Chairman, and C.E.O. of the International Imperial Council presented the Award to Baldwin.
Senator Baldwin was in San Diego for a special reception at the home of Robert Gleason and Marc Matys.
