Buttigieg vs. Christ in weird religious protest

If a recent protest in Marshalltown, Iowa is any indication of what lies ahead on the campaign trail for Pete Buttigieg, then he's in for a wild ride.

On Wednesday, Mayor Buttigieg was in Marshalltown to drum up support, but protestors were whipping up their own agenda, literally.

In one protest, a man dressed as "Mayor Pete" holding a whip was taunted by another member--dressed in a devil costume--to inflict more harm on a man dressed as Jesus wearing black sneakers.

“Beat the savior, beat him — I hate this guy,” Satan shouted. “Yes, more blood, Peter. Every vote is a lash on the back of Christ.”

"Satan" also preached: “We had bathhouses, you have no idea the stuff we used to do. Blood, I would drink blood in the mornings. There’s nothing like a warm cup of blood in the morning.”

Lucifer touted that Buttigieg was “polling number one in hell," reports LGBTQ Nation

Protestors met the candidate during other campaign stops in Iowa. Some of them referencing Sodom and Gomorrah, others calling him a "baby killer."

Buttigieg's supporters chanted "Pete" to drown them out.

“The good news is the condition of my soul is in the hands of God,"  Buttigieg said in response to the insults. "But the Iowa caucuses are up to you” as the crowd erupted in laughter.
