The area has experienced a rash of crimes against trans women within the past few months.
Police are looking for a suspect or suspects who were involved in the murder of a trans woman in Dallas. The body of Chynal Lindsey, 26, was found with “obvious signs of homicidal violence" in White Rock Lake on Saturday.
Police Chief U. Reneé Hall held a press conference and confirmed suspicions of foul play. The Dallas Police department even asking for help from the FBI as concerns that this homicide may be connected to Muhlaysia Booker, another trans woman murdered in Dallas last month.
“We are concerned, and we are actively and aggressively investigating the case,” Hall said.
Booker drew national attention two months ago when she was collectively abused verbally and physically beaten by a mob in front of an apartment complex. She was injured and recovering but was found shot to death last month.
Police have not made any arrests in Booker’s case.
During the press conference, the Dallas Police used a split-screen to show Lindsey before and after transition at the request of the family according to LGBTQ Nation.
