The event in Boston is still a go.
Organizers of a Straight Pride parade in Modesto, CA were denied approval of their event by the City Council this past Friday.
Due to the lack of proof of insurance by coordinators, the council denied their request for safety reasons.
“The city has been informed that the certificate of liability insurance for the proposed event has been voided,” the council said in a statement according to Queerty. “Liability insurance is a requirement for renting many city facilities.”
According to the flyer, the event would have celebrated: "Heterosexuality, Masculinity, Femininity, Babies - Born and Unborn, Western Civilization, Our Wonderful Country, Christianity."
Although Modesto has said no to such an event, Boston has approved one for an organization called Super Happy Fun America.
That straight pride rally is scheduled to happen on August 31.
According to their description, “Super Happy Fun America invites you to celebrate the diverse history, culture, and contributions of the straight community!” It continues: “The Straight Pride Event will be held to achieve inclusivity and spread awareness of issues impacting straights in Greater Boston and beyond.”
