Tuesday morning officials closed roads around a residential area in Hillcrest while they battled a large fire in a building on Park Boulevard. The site is a vacant former salon and day spa.

The fire broke out at about 8 am just a few blocks from the San Diego LGBT Community Center and Hillcrest Pride Flag.

The San Diego Fire Department Tweeted out an alert just after 8 am this morning:

"SDFD is working a Structure Fire - Comm / Apt at 3922 PARK BLVD. The call was received on 08/20/2019 at 08:09:18 AM and unit(s) arrived at 08:13:16 AM."

Fox 5 reports that Park Boulevard was shut down between Lincoln and University avenues while fire crews fought the flames.

The Fire Department is still trying to determine the cause of the blaze which they say started outside before engulfing the building.

No injuries are reported.
