He suggests people already knew.
This is probably one Valentine's Day actor Rick Cosnett won't ever forget. He came out as gay on Instagram in a video he posted on Friday.
“Hi everyone,” he says smiling into the camera followed by silence. “Dramatic pause," he continues, "I’m gay. And I just wanted everyone to know because I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth every day.”
The actor says he decided to let everyone know because he wants to live his truth even though it can be hard to do, “when you have all these subconscious things you don’t even know about from childhood and from society and from being, you know, just life.”
Cosnett, 36, was raised in Zimbabwe before moving to Australia to study acting.
He's known for having had roles in The Vampire Diaries and Quantico before landing the recurring part of Detective Eddie Thawne on The Flash.
His Flash co-star Candice Patton responded to his announcement with support, saying, “you’re one of the good ones. love u.”
At the end of the video Cosnett suggests that his news may not come as a surprise to some, “I’m sure most of you probably knew anyway,” he says. “So, there you go…and, yeah, that’s actually what I wanted to say.”
