Who is Lynn Murdaugh Goettee?

Lynn Murdaugh Goettee was the eldest and only daughter of Elizabeth “Libby” Alexander and Randolph Murdaugh III. Born in 1963, Lynn spent her initial days in a huge happy home in the small town of Varnville.

Being the only daughter of the family, she was cared for and loved by all. In 1966, she became the elder sister of Randolph “Randy” Murdaugh IV who was followed by the Murdaugh Murders suspect, Richard “Alex” Murdaugh in 1968, and finally John Marvin Murdaugh in 1970. Lynn was more like a loving second mother to the boys as she was the eldest and all four shared a very close bond. 

Although she was a good sister to her brothers, it was reported that Lynn never spoke in support of the crime suspect brother even though she was positive towards him. She visited him in jail and even spoke to him through recorded calls and stated that they even talked about the case and other matters related to their family. 

From the reports, 60-year-old Lynn is a graduate of Columbia College. She currently works as the Victim’s Advocate at the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office

As mentioned above, it was reported that she never spoke in support of him. But rather she shows her support by actively attending the ongoing murder trial.

Earlier on the February 8 trial, it was warned that she would be barred from the courtroom for the rest of the proceedings if she did not stick to the court regulations. This warning was issued after it was noted that she had passed a book, John Grisham’s ‘The Judge’s List’ to Alex with the help of a member of his defense team without the permission of the prosecutors or any other officials present in the court.

The book was regarded as contraband and it was later seized. And as a result of the act, the courtroom seats of the Murdaugh family members were moved a little far stating their indecent contact and conduct inside the room. Later on, it was stated that Lynn started following every rule set by the court.

Lynn resides with her family in Summerville, South Carolina. She was married to Allen Goettee and were together for about three decades. The couple shares three children, two daughters, and a son(Mills, Trey, and Reeves).
