SAN DIEGO -- Th!nkbusiness founder Michelle Burkart of San Diego will be a recipient of the “Small Business Owner of the Year” honors for her expertise in advising and providing business development training for small and midsized businesses throughout San Diego and California's 39th District.
Burkart will be honored on May 25 in Sacramento, as part of the California Small Business Day celebrations and will be presented the honor by Sen. Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego.
Burkart, who is also a board member and past chair of the Greater San Diego Business Association (GSDBA), has more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur. She is also former corporate regional vice president of sales for a landscape design-build company that she founded and later sold.
Through Th!nkbusiness, Burkart has helped entrepreneurs and business owners increase their annual growth and marketing potential through her San Diego-based company, since 1993.
“Michelle is the epitome of an entrepreneur and small-business advocate,” Kehoe said. “She has drawn on her corporate experience to help small businesses grow and prosper. Her expertise has also improved the prospects for up-and-coming businesses, and her service with various community organizations has strengthened our region.”
Burkart is also a credentialed mediator/arbitrator who facilitates for the National Conflict Resolution Center in San Diego, serving on its Superior Court Mediation Panel, the Commercial Business Panel; and Hearing Officer Panels for the San Diego Housing Commission and San Diego County Housing Authority. Additionally, she is a prominent speaker, sales trainer and a licensed facilitator for the “Get Clients Now!” marketing seminars.
