SAN DIEGO – Two literary events for the ladies are planned this month at The Center in Hillcrest.
“Ladies, Laughter & Literature,” targeting bookworms in search of a book group, will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4.
The Women’s Resource Center’s book club, L3: Ladies, Laughter & Literature, meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in The Center’s library. There is great variety in the books chosen, but the group primarily reads fiction. Books are selected each month by popular vote.
L3 members also enjoy getting together for related activities such as movies, dinner, etc. and always welcome new members. Visit the group ONLINE.
“Audre Lorde Poetry Night” will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 10.
Looking for a little inspiration? Join the Women’s Resource Center and Latino Services for Audre Lorde Poetry Night, an evening of creative expression. In her own words, Lorde was a "black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet” and the women will gather to honor her memory through music and poetry. Read her work, share your own, or just listen and be inspired.
Featured poet April Mahoney will be special guest for the evening. This event is free, open to all, and will take place downstairs at The Center (3909 Centre St.) in Latino Services.
