Ladies, do you ever have one of those weeks when it seems like nothing is going right?
This week alone, I’ve heard horror stories from my friends about hate crime incidents that have left me mortified and disgusted.
I've also experienced problems with miscommunication, continually klutzed out and dropped things, forgot to set my alarm and woke up three hours late -- only to find life had successfully moved on without me -- and I was quite late to work.
So in light of the Halloween shenanigans that are quickly approaching, let us pause for a breather:
I’m not even a cat person, but nobody can resist the hilarious cuteness of ninja cat!
Honestly ladies, I just don't understand the cat-lover stereotype we have pinned on ourselves.
Dogs are so much more fun to play with, and you can take them outside!
My family tried putting a leash on my pet cat as a kid, and let's just say that it did not end well at all. I'd be much obliged if someone could help sort me out on this one.
If ninja cat above doesn’t do the trick, wear some purple in honor of Spirit Day, head to your favorite local hang out, then look around and smile when you see how many people are out and about showing their support of LGBT youth.
I know I’ll be wearing mine!

The Weekly To-Do
Make sure you check out San Diego Museum of Art’s latest installment of Culture and Cocktails.
Tonight they are paying tribute to the Mexican punk scene and the art of Ruben Ortiz-Torres (see his Jesús y Los Mutantes piece above, left). I just went to this exhibit a few days ago and it’s stunning! This event has "awesome date night" potential smeared all over it. DJ Gabe Vega will be spinnin' tunes till 10 pm.
On Friday night, check out Star of India’s Haunted Tales of the Ship. Included with the price of admission, you get to wander about the ship and hear nautical ghost stories.
Saturday is chock-full of cool things. West Coast Tavern is hosting Rocktoberfest again this year, featuring sets by Everest, The Soft Pack, The Creepy Creeps, and more!
Also on Saturday, check out a roller derby double-header at Skate World in Linda Vista. Nothing quite as awesome as seeing a bunch of awesome girls kick-butt on the skate track!
And from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, Vintage Religion in North Park is holding a class on decorating sugar skulls. Learn something new this weekend!>/i>
And - if you feel like gettin’ out of town this weekend, Inferno (usually held here in San Diego on the first Saturday of each month at the Brass Rail), is setting its sights on the Long Beach scene when DJ dirty KURTY spins for the 30+ crowd at Lush Lounge on this Saturday night, Oct. 22.
