SAN DIEGO -- Congressmember Susan Davis will be the featured guest at tonight's Hillcrest Town Council (HTC) meeting, starting at 6:30 pm.
Davis, who has represented the 53rd congressional district since 2000, will update the group on various community issues and answer questions from the crowd.
While Davis sends a staff representative to HTC's meetings each month, the congresswoman herself is only able to attend one time each year, so community members are encouraged to come hear what she has to say.
Founded in 2007, the Hillcrest Town Council was created to provide a voice and enhance the quality of life for Hillcrest residents, while supporting actions that benefit the neighborhood.
All Hillcrest residents, both renters and homeowners, are invited to participate.
The organization will also consider endorsing the proposal to change the name of Hillcrest's Blaine Avenue to Harvey Milk Street. Representatives from San Diego Pride and the "Committee to Commemorate Harvey Milk" will give a presentation to residents at the meeting about the project and answer questions.
A number of other community issues will also be discussed and representatives of other elected officials offices will also give updates. There will be a period for residents to introduce themselves and voice issues of neighborhood concern during the public comment forum.
HTC meets at the Joyce Beers Uptown Community Center on Vermont Street, just north of University Avenue, in the Uptown District Shopping Center. The group's leaders remind those who attend that parking is limited to two hours in the shopping center surface street lots.
