TONIGHT: Openly gay Israeli Defense Force member to speak at PFLAG San Diego meeting | VIDEO

SAN DIEGO -- Yossi Herzog, who served as an openly gay member of the Israeli Defense Force, will speak at PFLAG San Diego's general meeting today at 7 pm.

Herzog is currently touring the United States on behalf of StandWithUs, an education organization that is dedicated to informing the public about Israel and to combating extremism and anti-Semitism.

The community is invited to tonight's meeting, in which Herzog is expected to talk about his experiences serving in the force, including the story of when he asked his commanding officer for permission to march in Tel Aviv's LGBT pride parade.

The evening will start with PFLAG's regular support groups, followed by the cookie social and presentation by Herzog.

Doors at 6:45 pm.

The meeting will take place at First United Methodist Church in The Cover Room, located at 2231 Camino del Rio South in Mission Valley.
