New owner takes over Mankind in Hillcrest, store remains open

SAN DIEGO -- Mankind, a boutique in Hillcrest that specializes in apparel, accessories, gifts and adult products for the gay community, will not be closing as was reported in early November.

A new owner has taken over the store, which is located at 3425 Fifth Ave.

Mankind's former owner Keith Miller sent a letter to customers on Nov. 6 stating that the store's lease was up and that they would close the business for good on Nov. 30. A new owner, however, ended up taking over the business and keeping its doors open.

Steve Bernier, who remains as general manager, invites customers to come back to the store, and check out all of their products, including new styles from Cellblock13, Nasty Pig and Andrew Christian. Styles from ES, Stud, Freedom Reigns and Tribe are on currently on sale at 50% off.

He also says that the store is a great place to find unique and exclusive holiday gifts.

"Get ready for a lot of new and exciting changes coming to Mankind," Bernier said.

Mankind can be found on Facebook and online.
