SAN DIEGO, California -- After a nationwide search, the San Diego Women's Chorus (SDWC) has announced the appointment of Kathleen Hansen as its new Artistic Director.
Hansen has served as SDWC's Assistant Artistic Director since last fall, working with the chorus through 3 of its biggest concert seasons to date. Working with soon to retire Artistic Director Christopher Allen, Hansen helped bring a new blend of sound and musical depth to the chorus.
Hansen has been working in the field of music education since 1998 with students of all ages. As a performer, she has had the opportunity to play and sing on a diverse array of stages, from street courtyards and concert halls in Italy to San Diego's own Symphony Hall.
With Hansen's promotion to Artistic Director, SDWC has appointed Justine Hansen, as its new Assistant Artistic Director.
"Kathleen and Justine's collective musical mastership coupled with the connection to our sound makes them the ideal team to lead our chorus to many successful seasons to come," said SDWC in a statement. "While Kathleen and Justine aren't related (the last name is actually a happy coincidence), we welcome them both into our circle of sisterhood!"
