The Hillcrest Business Association celebrated the official launch of the new Lunch Loop Shuttle on Tuesday.
Councilmember Chris Ward did the honors of cutting the ceremonial ribbon at UC San Diego Health Center.
Without the stress of parking, people can relax and explore many of Hillcrests’ businesses and eateries, keeping revenue within the community.
Electric transports will connect key locations around Hillcrest for people who don’t want to spend the time looking for parking in the afternoon.
The service starts at 11 am and runs through 2 pm, with stops every ten minutes at UCSD Health Center, 600 University Avenue and 300 University Avenue.
This is a free lunchtime shuttle and a part of the Access Hillcrest organization which re-invests parking meter funds back into the community to ease some of the traffic woes that may keep people from shopping locally.
Uptown Community Parking District created Access Hillcrest as a tool to keep people informed of parking availability and accessibility throughout the neighborhood.
