Today I turned 30 years old and this then lead me to start thinking about people in my life that I have looked up to and viewed as role models. While there are many people that have shaped who I am today, I really started to think about the gay men that have been central parts of my growth.
Solace, a peer support group for Christians and other people of faith in the coming out process, meets Sunday nights to provide participants with a safe space to talk about the challenges they face identifying as LGBT people.
A wise friend recently reminded me that while all of life is a constant mistake and learning process, our 20s are particularly prone to mistakes. But by entering into the 30s with a clear head and recognition of past missteps, the next phase of life will be so much easier.
