SDGLN Weekly Wrap: Nov 10 - Nov 16, 2018

There was a lot to cover this week including the group of LGBT migrants who have made their way from Central America to Tijuana. San Diego's LGBT community has offered a lot of support and continue to do so as more arrive. Also, there are plenty of social activities to do as we gear up for Thanksgiving and holiday shopping. 

NEWS

About 76 LGBT members of an approaching migrant caravan headed for the U.S. arrived in Tijuana on Sunday, They say they had to break off from the larger group because of harassment and bias. About 3,600 remaining migrants are making their way to seek asylum at the U.S. border and are due to arrive in about 2-3 weeks. 

As hundreds of Central American migrants head into Tijuana after traveling 1,200 miles mostly on foot, San Diego offers what it can to help them. But what exactly are they fleeing from

Four women were caught on tape beating up a man in a UK subway station. Three of the women are transgender. 

Tired of the commercialization of New York's Heritage of Pride (HOP) parade, the group known as Reclaim Pride plans on marching for themselves at next year's event --the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall.

ENTERTAINMENT

Before Veteran's Day weekend,  Victoria's Secret's  President and chief marketing officer Ed Razek was in the news because of comments he made to Vogue in regards to casting trans women.

Prolific comic book writer Stan Lee has died. The Hollywood Reporter reports that he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday and later passed away. 

Christopher Cantwell is no stranger to controversy and in his new game, Angry Goy II, he doubles down on his hate for the LGBT community. 

 Our critic Jean Lowerison reviews two movies this week: "Volcano: The Fire of Creation" and "Border."

Interconnecting building block toys are one of the biggest sellers for the holidays, and the conservative website called “Keep the Bear”  is taking that idea and making it their own with a toy border wall called  MAGA building block set.
