NEWS

Back in early 2016, buzz began about a proposed 18-acre evangelical resort to be built at the entrance to Mission Valley. That project is currently under construction with a completion date of fall 2019.

Cuba is currently considering a new constitution and the verbiage that defines marriage has been removed from the draft after the public outcry. 

Amer Alhaggagi appeared to be making plans to commit an act of terrorism against the gay community on a tape recently released by the FBI. 

Make room for more scooters, Lyft is the latest ridesharing company to add their brand name to electric scooters in San Diego starting on Thursday. 

COMMENTARY

Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Humane Society of the United States have collaborated to promote Operation Hero-Animal Bond, a program developed by HSUS and the Veterans Health Administration that connects veterans with qualified shelter pets to accomplish the dual goals of bringing purpose, structure, and unconditional love into veterans' lives and giving adoptable shelter pets loving homes.

CAUSES

The Trump administration is having to answer for their actions after they discharged two male Air Force personnel for their HIV-statuses. Lambda Legal and OutServe-SLDN step in to help by filing a lawsuit. 

ENTERTAINMENT

Comedienne and director Penny Marshall died this week, she was 75. Perhaps better known in the golden age of sitcom television as the first half of the comedy duo "Laverne and Shirley," Marshall went on to become a successful movie director. 

Point Loma's Natural Style Chicken makes a lateral move into a prominent storefront at University and Fifth in Hillcrest with a second location.

Angela Ponce became the first in history to compete in the main Miss Universe pageant as a trans woman. Over the weekend, Ponce was in Bangkok at the IMPACT Arena, having just contended with women from 94 other countries and territories for the coveted crown. 

Marvel may have erased many things this year, but for the LGBT community their decision to remove any groundbreaking significance to the gay Iceman storyline has left loyal readers feeling dumbfounded and betrayed.

The Recovery Ride is a charity cycling fundraiser that provides important monetary support to Stepping Stone of San Diego, the HIV Funding Collaborative, Mama's Kitchen, The Turning Point Home, and The Crossroads Foundation. The event willl take place next year on January 20.
