Here is everything we covered in SDGLN this week.

There was a lot of news both locally and nationally this week. There were a few local crimes, one resulting in a man severely biting another in Hillcrest. There was also a fundraiser and just plain fun in "Out & About."

NEWS

Police have arrested a man who severely bit a restaurant employee in Hillcrest on Wednesday night. 

Fears of Russian authorities gathering up LGBT people and detaining them have resurfaced this week. The Associated Press reports that at least two people have already been killed and about 40 remain in custody.

Several days of rainfall fell on San Diego this week; a series of Pacific storms hit the county starting on Monday and continued through Friday. 

Anchorage, Alaska has anti-discrimination laws in place that protect people based on orientation and gender identity, but one faith-based women's homeless shelter has refused a trans woman entrance to their facility and is suing the city to keep it that way. 

Stephen Whitburn announced his campaign for San Diego City Council District 3 this week. This district includes Downtown, Balboa Park, and the neighborhoods of Bankers Hill, Golden Hill, Hillcrest, Little Italy, Middletown, Mission Hills, Normal Heights, North Park, Old Town, Park West, South Park, and University Heights.

Two San Diego T-Mobile stores were robbed during operating hours on Tuesday, the thieves making off with thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Actor, amateur boxer and internet celebrity Logan Paul was in the news late last week after making a joke about going gay for the month of March.

Out theater critic Jean Lowerison reviews "Plays by You Writers," and "Moon Over Buffalo." 

Legend of both the stage and screen, Carol Channing has died, she was 97. Her publicist B. Harlan Boll, confirmed the news for USA TODAY. He said the iconic actress died of natural causes. 

Although Britney Spears will no longer be appearing on the Vegas Strip, she will forever be cast in vinyl after San Diego based collectible brand Funko releases a toy in her likeness
