Hillcrest is complete once again as repairs have been made to the Pride flag after it was vandalized two months ago. Plus trans lives are celebrated this week and Euphoria returns to Rich's. NEWS

Two months ago, the Hillcrest Pride flag was vandalized and immediately the community got to work fundraising for its repair. On Tuesday it was revealed that those repairs have been made and the monument is back good as new. 

Cecile Elidge, 61, gave her son perhaps the best gift he will ever receive – a child! Husbands Elliot and Matthew Dougherty wanted to start a family, but the cost of using a surrogate was not something they could afford. So Matthew’s mother Cecile offered to carry the baby for them.

A Virginia mother is not happy that her 7-year-old daughter was read a book about LGBT activist and politician Harvey Milk.

Chick-fil-A isn't getting a franchise location at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The food chain is currently in the hot seat after their 2017 tax returns were made public showing the company donated over a million dollars to notoriously homophobic organizations. 

Last Wednesday, flyers containing homophobic and racist hate speech were posted around the halls of McCormick Junior High in Cheyenne, Wyoming and the teacher who reported the leaflets was allegedly fired for whistleblowing.

Pride Toronto might be adding military personnel to their list of banned participants in the Pride parade reports Gay Star News.

CAUSES

Transgender Day of Visibility was this past Sunday. It is a day when trans and non-binary men and women stand up and stand tall in an effort to bring public awareness to their lack of rights and to the Sisyphus type challenges they face every day. 

ENTERTAINMENT

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) had a big hand (and head) at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami over the past weekend, but guests and DJs were not extending their southern hospitality to the Colonel after he took to the music deck and played a near five-minute set.

San Diego loves "Carmen." From the acting to the choreography to the music and singing, San Diego has fallen in love with "Carmen," this its 10th production since the San Diego Opera's opening over half a century ago.

Out & About: This week Flicks is turning up the heat with their Inferno event with DJ Tony and don't forget to vote in the Mr. Flicks Contest. Also, it's an important week for the trans community. On Friday the community will come together for Trans Day of Empowerment.

Forget the super bloom, Euphoria presented by SDPIX at Rich's is where you'll want to blossom this month. This fun event always has the best sounds, the most dynamic musical guests and a great line-up of local DJs to keep you moving through the night and into the morning. 

If you’re wondering where to park in Hillcrest on Saturday, April 13 for Taste of Hillcrest,  look no further than the DMV lot at 3960 Normal Street. The lot is free for public parking from 6:30 pm – 3 am on most nights. 

HEALTH WELLNESS AND SPORTS

The building located at 3850 Fifth Ave. in Hillcrest is being sold by LuxView Properties to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) for $4.8 million. Colliers International is overseeing the sale of the 13,253-square-foot building in the heart of Hillcrest.
