San Diego will be the epicenter of musical mastery in July.
San Diego Pride is showcasing their A-list talent line-up for Pride early in July by announcing Car Astor as their headliner for She Fest which takes place on July 6.
She Fest is an annual event that celebrates all women artistically and politically while being all-inclusive with their engagement in the LGBT community and their allies.
There might be no better musical guest than Car Astor to represent this event and everything it celebrates. Astor is a self-taught musician who hails from the east coast. She plays a multitude of instruments including drums, guitar, bass, and piano to name a few.
"I’m honored to be sharing in a celebration of our community’s diversity, persistence, and constant message of love and light," said Astor.
As a teenager, the precocious artist was in a few bands before striking out on her own. She played a lot of bars and clubs in her initial solo career, eventually recording herself on YouTube and Soundcloud.
Her first album "The Time Thief" was released in 2014. Then known as SEE, Astor caught the ear of record exec Tom Carolan whose list of signed artists include Stone Temple Pilots and Macy Gray. Astor signed a record deal at the age of 19.
Two years later, Astor released the critically acclaimed album "Ties" which would catapult her career into the spotlight where she gathered a huge fanbase. In 2017 she began an American tour and many more people began to appreciate her seemingly limitless gifts.
In 2018 Astor released her dance-infused “Girlfriend," then in 2019 she traded a dance beat for a rock one in "Don’t Stop, Don’t Speak.”
Astor is making her way to San Diego for She Fest on July 6 and then will be returning to perform on the Stonewall Stage on July 7.
"We're proud that She Fest, an inclusive and intersectional celebration of LGBTQ women, is the event that officially starts Pride week here in San Diego," said She Fest Co-Chairs Stacy Sakamoto and Jessica Morgan in a statement. "We're so excited to welcome Car Astor as our headliner and we're looking forward to announcing our complete lineup of live music, workshops, and activities."
San Diego will be filled with musical headliners in July. The Pride Music Festival will take place on July 13-14 in Balboa Park with Melissa Etheridge, King Princess, and Snow Tha Product.
A full line-up of talent at San Diego Pride will be announced tomorrow.
