Here is everything we covered in SDGLN this week.

The city was still in shock this week after the Sunday morning shooting in a San Diego County synagogue.

The attack left one person dead and several others injured.

This crime sparked concern by City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez who started a campaign to raise money for armed guards to patrol The San Diego LGBT Community Center.

Here's what's fun to do this week in San Diego and Hillcrest.

May showers Hillcrest with plenty of things to do. First off is the Dining Out for Life, a fundraiser for HIV support services at The Center.

Then the neighborhood goes south of the border for an entire weekend of fun celebrating Cinco de Mayo.

Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. This Mexican holiday, popular both south and north of the border, falls on a Friday this year, hence promising to be quite lively indeed. 

That being the case, here’s a quick run-down of some of the festive fiestas happening here in Hillcrest: 

DJ Tristan Jaxx at Porto Vista Hotel for Cinco de Mayo

DJ Tristan Jaxx will be the special musical guest at Top of the Bay on Cinco de Mayo.

This Friday is Cinco de Mayo and there is no better place to have a fiesta that high atop one of the most beautiful hotels in San Diego.

The Porto Vista Hotel will have south of the border flair for its First Friday event this month. They're spicing things up especially for Cinco de Mayo.

Fiesta Old Town returning for Cinco de Mayo

The 29th annual Fiesta Old Town celebration, organized by the Historic Old Town Community Foundation, will celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Mexican culture at the site historians refer to as “the birthplace of America.”
