Facebook, the world’s largest online social network, has taken another step toward LGBT-inclusiveness, introducing same-sex icons for users to select from when adding marriage events to their profile’s timeline.

Generally, all eyes are on our "relationship status" on Facebook. Any time a change is made, the response of friends is often immediate, regardless of the change. But what about the impact on your partner? Even if the relationship is over, don't you want to salvage a friendship in the long term?

Chris Hughes, the out gay 28-year-old co-founder of Facebook who left the company to help create then Sen. Barack Obama's social media effort in his 2008 presidential campaign, has purchased a majority share of and has become the publisher and editor-in-chief of The New Republic.
