Christopher Service is a member of the LGBT community and a veteran. His story is like so many homeless vets in San Diego who have overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles to reclaim their place in mainstream society.  

New 'Lunch Loop' shuttle is a free way to end Hillcrest parking stress

New shuttle takes lunchers throughout Hillcrest without parking stress.

The Hillcrest Business Association celebrated the official launch of the new Lunch Loop Shuttle on Tuesday.

Councilmember Chris Ward did the honors of cutting the ceremonial ribbon at UC San Diego Health Center. 

Without the stress of parking, people can relax and explore many of Hillcrests' businesses and eateries, keeping revenue within the community. 

Fifth Avenue Books bids adieu to Hillcrest

Fifth Avenue Books in Hillcrest announced last month that it was going out of business.

They said in a Facebook post that they are appreciative of all their loyal customers who have supported them over the years, but due to the increase in online shopping the store could no longer sustain the financial loss.
