Any celebration of the The Advocate's founding in 1967 must honor the heroes for LGBT rights that we've covered for 45 years. With one honoree named per year, the list will be announced in parts and culminate in an event in Los Angeles this month.

This book, a novelized non-fiction, is a major literary accomplishment. It should cross over into the mainstream because it is takes place at the nexus of the New Left, Women's Liberation, Gay Liberation and the Lesbian Feminist movements — a seldom written-about time period -- and an intersection that embroiled hundreds of thousands of Americans.

GetEQUAL joins "viewing party" fray in support of Chaz

One aspect of GetEQUAL's mission is to empower the LGBT community and its allies to take action to demand full legal and social equality. The viewing parties will help combat the extreme transphobia that has been witnessed across the nation in response to Chaz' participation on Dancing with the Stars.
