Pacific Beach United Methodist Church says, "We will continue to welcome all people"

The United Methodist Church (UMC) dealt a powerful blow to its LGBT members last month when at their international General Conference in St. Louis a majority of voters chose to uphold the church's traditional values and ban gay and lesbian clerics and denounce same-sex weddings.

A lot happened in the religious sect this week. The United Methodist Church officially voted to exclude LGBT members and the ordainment of clergy inside that organization. Also, a gay marriage nearly 50 years old is finally federally recognized.

United Methodist Church votes down LGBT inclusion in preliminary vote.

United Methodist Church leaders are currently at odds with each other over whether or not to keep tacit support of the LGBT community intact or abandon it altogether. The latter seems to be the path they want to take according to a preliminary vote put forth by over 800 delegates at an international conference in St. Louis on Monday.
