Tuesday June 5 is Election Day in CA. Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm PST.

It’s Election Day in San Diego and that means registered voters will get a chance to participate in the Gubernatorial Primary Election starting at 7 am.

City Commissioner Nicole Murray Ramirez made a special trip to Salt Lake City, Utah last week for two historic reasons. First to present a special bust of Harvey Milk to Mayor Jackie Biskupski. And second to swap Harvey Milk street signs as Salt Lake is the only other American city to name a street after the legendary activist.

SCOTUS sides with discriminatory Colorado baker.

The Supreme Court sided with Colorado baker Jack Phillips and absolved him of discrimination charges on Monday.

The Masterpiece Bakery owner refused to make a cake for same-sex couple David Mullins and Charlie Craig back in 2012, citing that it would compromise his religious beliefs.

"Active shooter" in custody after marathon scare

Police have a female shooting suspect in custody.


Police have released the name of the shooting suspect as 58-year-old Mona Elease Williams. They say it started out as a hit-and-run. As they attempted to pull Williams over, she drove into a parking garage at C Street between Second and Third.

Brick Bar in Hillcrest liquor license suspended until late June

Brick Bar is located at 1475 University Ave.

The Brick Bar on University Avenue has temporarily lost its liquor license according to a public notice from the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) posted on the door.

The sign says the ban is from Thursday, May 31 to June 20, 2018. San Diego Gay and Lesbian News reached out to owners to try and determine why the license was suspended, but we have not yet received a comment.

Some Starbucks will close today for anti-bias training

Some Starbucks locations nationwide will close for sensitivity training today.

You’re probably going to have to find your afternoon coffee elsewhere today. If you go to Starbucks you may find it closed because they are taking part in a nation-wide anti-bias training program at 2 pm.
