Judy and Dennis Shepard to speak at St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in San Diego

The Shepards will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral 2728 6th Ave. in The Great Hall on December 16 at 9 am.

This year marks the 20-year anniversary of Matthew Shepard's death, and his parents, Judy and Dennis, will be in San Diego speaking about their work and the purpose of the Shepard Foundation.

They will be at St Paul's Episcopal Cathedral on Sunday, December 16 at 9 am. The public is invited to join them at the Forum Workshop in the Great Hall for a morning of reflection and hope.

PETA equates “speciesist” idioms to homophobic slurs

PETA receives social media backlash over latest campaign.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is bringing awareness to their cause by issuing a list of  “speciest” slurs they equate to using homophobic ones. 

They find phrases such as “bring home the bacon.” and "kill two birds with one stone" as problematic. Instead, they suggest using “bring home the bagels.” and "feed two birds with one scone" respectively.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR)  is a day started in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith who began a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed a year earlier.

Since then it has become an important day to honor all of those who have been murdered just for being who they are. 

Help needed to give a special welcome to the LGBT “Legacy Wall" in Hillcrest

“The Legacy Wall,” will be heading to Hiillcrest in November.

The founder of San Diego LGBT Visitor's Center, Eddie Reynoso announced this week a new project coming to Hillcrest; the creation of Equality Business Alliance’s San Diego LGBTQ Legacy Walk. 

Reynoso describes it as, "An interactive outdoor exhibit that features up to 60 plaques documenting our community and nation’s LGBTQ history."
