Netflix's "Special" is very much so, and you shouldn't miss it

Ryan O’Connell's "Special" is a canny look at being gay and living with cerebral palsy.

The genius of the new Netflix show called “Special” is not in its situational comedy type setup about a gay writer with cerebral palsy (CP), but with its stars. It’s cast is so rich with talent it should be patented.

Theater Review: “Mr. & Mrs. Fitch”

“Mr. & Mrs. Fitch” plays through April 14, 2019 at Moxie Theatre, 6663 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego.

“Gossip is just news that’s interesting,” says Mrs. Fitch (Sandy Campbell), one half of a team of gossip columnists in Douglas Carter Beane’s amusingly snarky 1998 two-hander “Mr. & Mrs. Fitch.”

She and husband Mr. Fitch (Andrew Oswald) have been writing a column for some years, getting invited to all the posh parties where they can mine a gossipy item or two.

Theater Review: “Angels in America, Pt 2: Perestroika”

“Angels in America” plays in rotating repertory through April 20, 2019 at Cygnet Theatre, 4040 Twiggs St. in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

Tony Kushner’s epic two-part play “Angels in America” continued at Cygnet Theatre last week when part 2 – “Perestroika” – opened. Both parts will now play in repertory through the end of the run on April 20.

I’m not kidding when I call them epic. Seeing them both is about a seven-hour commitment. I tell you this by way of noting that you can see them both in one day if you like.
