Berkeley passes resolution to not serve meat once a week

Cows and other animal based proteins are going to be happy. Berkeley will have an all-vegan day once a week.

Berkeley California is gearing up to go meatless once a week. 

A resolution passed by the city council will require that vegan food be served at city events and meetings once a week according to ABC 7.

Called "Green Monday," the resolution is the first of its kind in the nation to stipulate that people go vegan. 

Michelle Obama in San Diego for wellness conference

Former First Lady Michelle Obama to visit San Diego.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama will be visiting America's Finest City today (Sept. 19). She is appearing as a part of a three-day event to help promote health and wellness. 

"The Bold Mindbody" conference will be held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront located downtown. 

SD trans student crowned homecoming queen, a first for Sweetwater High

National City celebrates historic moment, they crown their first transgender homecoming queen.

An LGBT milestone was celebrated in National City last week as Sweetwater Union High School crowned its first transgender homecoming queen.  

At Friday's homecoming game  Karl Cristian Cruz took home the crown after her classmates voted her as their royal representative. 

SD City Council passes Midway District improvement plan

The Midway District has long been a section of San Diego that could use some improvements, and on Monday the San Diego City Council approved a plan that would do just that. 

Poké Go in Hillcrest quietly closed at the end of August

The restaurant still has open locations in La Jolla and Rancho Bernardo.

You may have noticed that the Poké Go restaurant is no longer open in Hillcrest. The spot located at 3614 Fifth Ave which served hungry locals raw fish entrees since 2015, closed on August 31.

That location was the first of the franchise which still has open locations in La Jolla and Rancho Bernardo.
