Two officers shot in standoff near SDSU on Saturday

Two officers are recovering after being shot at an apartment complex near SDSU.

Two San Diego police officers are recovering from gunshot wounds after responding to an apartment complex near SDSU on Saturday night. 

It happened at about 10:15 pm, the two officers responded to a "violent disturbance" call at an apartment building located on the 4800 block of Rolando Court.

Trump mistakenly calls out Mayor Faulconer in his speech on Friday

President Trump accidentally targets Mayor Faulconer in a speech.

President Trump called out San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer (R) in his speech about immigration on Friday, but he really meant to address the Mayor of Oakland. 

The remark came as the president spoke about "angel families," the victims of illegal immigration, from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building

An artist installed a bent drug spoon, one that resembles those used to heat up heroin, and placed it at the entrance to drugmaker Purdue Pharma in Connecticut on Friday. Weighing nearly 800 pounds and 11-feet long the piece is in protest to what the artist Domenic Esposito believes is an epidemic of opioid use.

Bomb threat called into box office cancels afternoon performance of Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles.

The Alex Theatre in Glendale, California was evacuated due to a bomb threat on Saturday. The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles was performing at the theater but were moved to safety along with guest star Leslie Jordan just a little after the 2 pm curtain. 

Casa San Diego is helping kids separated from their families due to border crackdowns

East San Diego has a significant role in the current government immigration crackdown. Images in the news are showing distraught children separated from their parents at the U.S. – Mexican borders.

Despite President Trump's recent executive order to not separate children from their families, there are still many who need living assistance until it's determined where they go next.

United and American Airlines tell government to refrain from using their planes to transport separated kids

Two major airlines want the government to stop using their planes to transport kids separated from their families at immigration facilities.

Two of the biggest commercial airlines have asked that the U.S. government stop using their aircraft to transport children separated from their families affected by the recent implementation of zero-tolerance immigration laws.  

Both companies say they aren't sure if the government is using them to fly the separated kids,  but if they are they want them to immediately desist. 

Bay area drag performer beaten just a little distance from SF Eagle

San Francisco drag performer attacked just outside of gay bar.

San Francisco Police are advising people to walk in groups after a popular drag performer named Ginger Snap, née Tim Tait, was attacked by an unknown assailant after leaving the San Francisco Eagle on June 8.  

His injuries were severe enough to require stitches to his forehead, blacken both of his eyes, and break one of his front teeth.
