BBC hires its first correspondent for LGBT news

Ben Hunte has become BBC's first correspondent for the community and he says it's "a dream come true."

Originally from BBC Africa, Hunte also hosts What's New a children's program on that network. 

His new position will begin in January. 

"I'm delighted... and I am looking forward to finding and telling stories from the LGBT community," he said. 

Rash of bomb threats have SD law enforcement busy

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating numerous bomb threats being made across the U.S. on Thursday. There have been about 20 made in San Diego reports Fox 5.

Major three-car accident in Hillcrest near The Center

A three-car accident was reported in Hillcrest just before midnight on Sunday. 

It happened on the 1700 block of University Avenue, one car was blocking the street and a tree was uprooted according to the San Diego Police Department. 

The two other vehicles were on the sidewalk. One vehicle may have been parked. 

The Caliph will permanently close at end of December

San Diego is losing another of its historic gay bars this year, The Caliph on Fifth Avenue in Bankers Hill will be shuttering for good on December 31, 2018. 

Perhaps best known for its karaoke and live keyboard entertainment, The Caliph has been open for 59 years. 

Subway closes permanently in the Hillcrest Colonade
