Nigerian Music Star Davido's Son Died Police Question Nanny

Following the Halloween death of his 3-year-old son, Davido, a Nigerian music star, a nanny engaged by him is being questioned by police.

Seven other domestic helpers, including the anonymous childminder, were detained for interrogation; six of them have since been freed, according to police, who spoke with CNN.

Ifeanyi Adeleke, who just last month celebrated his third birthday, is thought to have perished in the swimming pool at the celebrity’s residence in the affluent Banana Island suburb of Lagos. When he wasn’t playing with his minder, Ifeanyi was known to be a boisterous young child.

What’s The Status Of The Investigation?

According to the Lagos Police, eight domestic helpers were first held for questioning, albeit no further information is known at this time.

When musician Davido’s 3-year-old kid Ifeanyi perished in a swimming pool, eight people who were there have been arrested. According to the spokesman, eight of his domestic staff workers were detained for questioning, while a nanny and another person are still being interrogated, according to CNN. Six individuals were permitted to leave after our questioning since they had no direct connection to the incident.

The cook and the nanny, who were the only people who had contact with the child directly up until the autopsy was completed, were negligent, the source said. We are investigating suspects, and depending on the situation, it may or may not be necessary to make the suspects public. Although the family hasn’t yet complained, the hospital will determine how quickly the autopsy is performed. Reviewing the home’s CCTV, though, is the next step.

According to a New channel, Ifeanyi’s body was sent to a mortuary for an autopsy after being pulled from the swimming pool at his father’s home in the Banana Island neighborhood of Lagos State.

SP of the state police, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, declined to comment when asked for more details in order to protect the integrity of the current investigation.

The police then invited eight domestic workers, and after interrogating them, six of them were released.

Davido, 29, and his fiancee Chioma Rowland, a well-known chef, and influencer, have remained silent on the passing of their baby. The two people detained in conjunction with the murders of Davido’s fiancée Chioma Rowland and Davido’s 3-year-old son Ifeanyi Adeleke may remain in police custody until an autopsy report exonerates them.

In response to the shocking news, the Afrobeats musician’s famous pals have been posting tributes on social media. Former Nigerian governor Peter Obi tweeted: I offer Davido and Chioma my profound sympathies for the loss of their son Ifeanyi. The suffering they are currently through is beyond my comprehension. The Afrobeats musician shared a photo of his little boy on social media in October along with a birthday greeting. He also has two daughters from previous relationships.

The spokesman for the Nigerian performing musicians association described Ifeanyi’s passing as tragic news and requested the state administration to review the rules limiting who is permitted to run swimming pools in the state. Therefore, if it is regarded from the perspective of law, it will be binding on everyone. Everyone else is affected, in addition to the fact that we are losing our prized young people to the creative industries. Everyone with a pool at home should take safety precautions to prevent accidents.

The governor of the state where Davido is from, Adegboyega Oyetola, tweeted: Sad to read of the tragic demise of Ifeanyi, son of music icon David Adeleke, better known by his stage name @davido.

There are general guidelines for how to utilize a pool, including not letting children enter alone, making sure there are lifeguards on duty, and having someone nearby to call for help if something goes wrong. However, the state has a reliable emergency system that can be activated in an instant if someone has any kind of emergency, whether it be in a clubhouse or a swimming pool. However, in order to file a report, people must dial those emergency numbers.

According to Hundeyin, the police have been in contact with his parents since the very beginning.

Davido, real name David Adeleke, is one of the most well-known musicians in Africa. Since the release of his first single, Back When, in 2011, he has experienced tremendous career success.
