Who Was Kaylin Gillis? NY Women Shot Dead After Turning Into Wrong Driveway
According to the authorities, a homeowner in upstate New York shot and killed a 20-year-old woman on Saturday night after the driver of the car she was riding in entered the wrong driveway. The homeowner was armed with a firearm at the time of the shooting.
At a press conference held on Monday, Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy disclosed that Monahan, 65 years old, had been caught and was being charged with second-degree murder.
According to the investigators, Kevin Monahan, the owner of the home that the group of people inadvertently parked into, fired two rounds from his patio at the vehicle as the driver was departing.

On Saturday night, Kaylin Gillis, 20, and three other people were driving through the small hamlet of Hebron when they took a false turn onto the property.
The homeowner, identified as 65-year-old Kevin Monahan, is said to have come from his veranda and fired two bullets as the suspects attempted to turn the vehicle around, as stated by Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy. Gillis was injured by one of the bullets.
Murphy mentioned that the incident took place in a region where there was spotty coverage for mobile phones.
The gang got into their cars and drove to the nearby town of Salem, which is northeast of Albany and close to the border with Vermont. There, they called 911.
Gillis received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when emergency responders arrived, but she was unable to be revived.
Murphy reported that when officers arrived at Monahan’s house to investigate the shooting, Monahan refused to come out when they knocked on his door.
Before taking him to jail, the authorities reportedly conferred with him for close to an hour via a 911 operator as well as in person, as stated by the sheriff.
After being taken into custody, Monahan was charged with second-degree murder and booked into the Warren County jail.
It was not obvious whether he had a lawyer at his disposal who could assist him in this matter.
According to documents available to the public, Gillis’s father works as a security guard at the Washington County correctional facility.
According to the findings of the investigation, neither alcohol nor mental illness had a part in the incident.

The fatal shooting had not yet sunk in for Gillis’s friends and her family, who were in mourning after the incident.
Chuchay Stark, who is now 48 years old, told The Post that she had known Gillis since she was a youngster and described her as having “really a gentle soul.”
She was the kind of youngster who made you long for the day when she could be your own child. She had a high level of sensitivity toward the needs and feelings of those around her.
However, confidence was not in short supply. She understood her desires. She was confident in her own opinion and did not shy away from being innovative.
When her daughter told her of Gillis’s passing, it brought her to tears.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established in order to help with the costs associated with the funeral.
