American Music Awards 2022

Sunday saw the Los Angeles broadcast of the 2022 American Music Awards, where Wayne Brady served as host. The world’s massive fan awards ceremony, live-streamed from the Microsoft Theater, featured ground-breaking performers winning prizes and putting on unforgettable appearances.

Pink performed a rollerskating routine when host Wayne Brady began the show with slapstick, entertainment, and gyrate. The big winner of the evening was Taylor Swift, who won all six awards for which she was nominated.

Brand New Categories Included In The American Music Awards 2022

With eight nominations, Bad Bunny was the most nominated artist and ultimately took home two awards. With six each, Beyoncé, Drake, and Swift were in second place after him. Each of the three nominees—The Weeknd, Adele, and Harry Styles—had five.

This year’s awards ceremony included a few brand-new categories. It featured popular K-pop, rock songs, rock albums, afrobeat artists, and touring performers! Because of the pandemic’s unfortunate exclusion of favorite touring performers and soundtracks, their major comeback is the result.

New Categories Included In The American Music Awards 2022

Competitors like Wizkid, Fireboy DML, Burna Boy, Ckay, and Terms battled for the honor at the award ceremony, which added the “Favorite Afrobeats Artiste” category to its list of categories. The Ojuelegba singer, however, was given the plaque and returned home. Additionally, Terms was named the category’s overall winner for “Favorite Hip Hop Song”.

Her contribution to Future’s “Wait For You,” which also features Drake, earned her this honor. The well-known duo Wizkid and Terms additionally took home the prize for “Favorite R&B Song,” “Essence,” from Wizkid’s 2020 playlist “Made in Lagos.”

Swift Is Gobbling Up All Of The AMAs

Taylor Swift dominated the Sunday nights episode 2022 American Music Awards. All six of the awards for which Swift was nominated were presented to her, including the top honor of artist of the year. Her work on the Red album that she re-recorded earned her three awards. Additionally, it featured the 10-minute music video for the song “All Too Well,” which features Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien.

Swift said during the opening monologue for her favorite pop album that she had never thought her re-recorded soundtracks would have any relevance to the audiences.

She also reflected on and expressed gratitude to those who assisted her in meticulously recreating “Red” for hours in the studio. Taylor then thanked her “All Too Well” music video stars and the other musicians who collaborated with her on the album’s re-recording in 2012. Miles Teller and Blake Lively, the director and co-star, were praised for her winning speech.

Honoring The Victims Of The Colorado Shootings

Less than 24 hours had passed since the Colorado Springs shooting left 13 dead. Wayne Brady hosted the show. As has already been reported, the Colorado gay nightclub shooting was a horrific nightmare in which a 22-year-old man killed five people and wounded 25 others.

Even though he was subdued by patrons and arrested, he left a scar in the hearts of the LGBTQ community. All three speakers—Brady, Kim Petras, a presenter, and Dove Cameron—discussed the tragedy and showed their solidarity with the victims and the queer community as a whole.

All of them took the stage after winning the first prize of the evening for the best new artist to promote peace and harmony in America. Brady made allusions to Takeoff, a member of the Migos, passing away recently before moving on to the Colorado Springs shooting. He pleaded with the audience that Americans must end this inhumane gun violence.

Other Noteworthy Victories That Night

Morgan Wallen, who took home two awards, was another notable winner in addition to Taylor Swift. Wallen’s victories mark his first at the AMAs as the top-charting country musician returns to award consideration following his early 2021 use of a racial slur that has been captured on camera.

Chris Brown was chosen as the audience’s favorite male R&B artist but could not attend the ceremony to accept the honor in person. Show host Kelly Rowland informed the crowd of Brown’s victory, and they answered with a few muddled roars.
