Leiji Matsumoto the sophisticated creator of epic numerous sci-fiction stories passed away on February 13, 2023, at the age of eighty-five. The epic Manga creator, designer, and illustrator died due to heart failure and people across the globe were profoundly sad to hear the news as he left a void in the industry that would be unfulfilled. Legendary Manga Creator Leiji Matsumoto Passed Away

It was on February 13, 2023, that Leiji Matsumoto passed away due to acute heart failure. He was in his late eighties and the industry just lost a golden feather. The immediate family of the creator performed the last rites, and also had the heart to hold a service with his mourning wife Miyako Maki. 

Legendary Manga Creator-Leiji Matsumoto

He was only fifteen when he published his first ever green work titled The Adventures of a Bee. He was a precocious child and his talents at a small age made him the most acknowledged legend of his proper time. 

He was a true legend who lived through the atomic bombings of 1945 and thus brought the formidable world war II to an end. In an interview at that time, the renowned creator described his terrible experience. He recalled: “the plane that dropped the bomb on Hiroshima went right over my head. The second was meant for a town close to Fukoka where I was living. It was bad weather that condemned Nagasaki. That traumatized me, but it was a source of inspiration, as were all the experiences of my youth. Personal experience is essential for a creative spirit”. 

It was back in the 1950s that he really became popular as a riveting shojo manga creator. He was under a pen name and later decided to take his most celebrated pen name and until his last breath, he was known as Leiji Matsumoto. 

Leiji Matsumoto: Cause Of The Death?

As per sources, the renowned and heavily celebrated Japanese manga creator passed away at the age of eighty-five due to acute heart failure. It was his office that broke this disheartening shred of information and people across the globe who idolize him and his works really had to put up with this massive loss. 

As per sources, the legendary icon Leiji Matsumoto was hospitalized in Turin back in 2019. But he recuperated rapidly and the newspapers at that time reported that he suffered from a stroke when he collapsed and at that time his health was in critical condition. But fortunately, his condition got better and was discharged from the hospital.

So as well we could infer, he had prior experiences of heart failure, and it may have got the best of him when it came to him at the age of eighty-five. 

Leiji Matsumoto And His Colossal Career

When we have a glance at the enormous career that he has built, some of his works would undoubtedly stand alone. His works such as Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Queen Emeraldas, and Galaxy Express 999 were classic epic works and it was the sole inspiration for umpteen live-action and anime adaptations. 

Besides this magnum opus works, Leiji Matsumoto extended his wings, contributed designs, and created the tie-in manga for Space Battleship Yamato. Furthermore, he served in the animated music videos for French electronic pop duo Daft Punk’s Discovery album which was a huge success. 

Leiji Matsumoto - Career

Leiji Matsumoto’s riveting mechanical designs really inspired the early 20th-century dreadnoughts and were heavily acknowledged for each of those unique designs. Moreover, each of his characters that had cartoonish designs really had realistic figures, and because of that realistic features each of his works was well accomplished. 

It was back in 2001, that he became the recipient of the Medal with Purple Ribbon honor, and besides this, he also received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette. 

Leiji Matsumoto was born on January 25, 1938, in Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan. He was born to a big family of seven brothers to their parents. It was his father who gave him a 35mm film projector, and when the pacific war was causing chaos Leiji Matsumoto watched American cartoons.

It was H G Wells and Unno Juza, the renowned personalities who gave him the inspiration for science fiction novels. It was in 1954 that he made his debut under his original name Akira Matsumoto and he had massive success with a series titled Otoko Oidon.  

When we have a glance at his personal life, he was married to his fellow companion in the manga creation Miyako Maki. she is better known as the creator of the doll Licca-chan and is heavily appreciated for her contributions.
