Filip Maciejuk is a name that is now familiar to all those who are into sports. A recent act of the 23-year-old cyclist from Poland has created a huge buzz over the internet, which attracted people’s attention to him. 

Recently, he participated in the Tour of Flanders on Sunday, which caused the sudden publicity of the 23-year-old Maciejuk. This young cyclist made a big mistake at the event, which brought a negative impact not only on his career but even on his life.

Who Is Filip Maciejuk?

Filip Maciejuk is a polish cyclist who competed in numerous races throughout his cycling career. Born in Pulawy, Poland, on 3 September 1999, Maciejuk currently represents UCI Continental team Team Bahrain Victorious.

He signed the contract with the team on August 14, 2022, and has participated in national championships.

Filip Maciejuk started his professional career as a cyclist in 2016 by participating in the National Junior Road Championship. By 2018, the athlete began to compete in national competitions for team Leopard Pro Cycling. 

On Sunday, Filip Maciejuk was accused of causing a huge crash in the Tour of Flanders. While trying to overtake the cyclist through their right, he got stuck in the flooded grass verge and lost his balance. He bounced to the other participants of the race and resulting in a massive crash involving around 40 cyclists. 

As a result of his action, Maciejuk was disqualified from the Tour of Flanders.

What Happened To Maciejuk At The Tour Of Flanders?

Filip MaciejuK was one of the contestants in the Tour of Flanders held on Sunday. During his match, Maciejuk was seen cycling through the side of the road with around 140 km to race. As moving forward, he rode through a deep grass area that was watery. He lost his control and swayed across the road into the peloton. 

As he sparked a skittle effect, he collapsed into the other riders who were proceeding through the road. Around 40 participants collapsed in the massive crash, and most of them were injured. 

Julian Alaphilippe, a fellow contender, was injured and was taken to the hospital after giving him medical service. Not only Julian but other competitors in the race were also injured from the impact of the collapse.

The injured competitors include Peter Sagan, who was champion in the 2016 race. The race held on Sunday was his final Tour of Flanders. And because of the crash, he had to quit earlier. 

Other contestants of the race who were injured or impacted badly were Ben Turner (Ineos Grenadiers), Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma), Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-QuickStep), Oier Lazkano (Movistar), Peter Sagan (TotalEnergies), and Tim Wellens (UAE Team Emirates). Most of them injured were forced to drop the race and take medical supervision.  

Filip MaciejuK , who caused the crash, apologized in the media for his actions. He even said that he hopes everyone involved in the collapse is fine and in good health. He delivered a heartfelt sorry to all the competitors who were hurt because of him. 

Later, he was disqualified from the Tour of Flanders after causing a horror crash that collapsed multiple riders and caused difficulty.
