The daughter of the mayor and the wife of the police superintendent has been named as the substitute teacher who is accused of exchanging sexually explicit images and videos of sex activities with a pupil who was 15 years old. The incident took place in Wellston, Oklahoma.
According to News 9 and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is in charge of the criminal investigation of Emma Delaney Hancock, who is 26 years old.
Mrs. Hancock is the wife of Wellston’s police chief, Alfred Hancock, and the daughter of the city’s mayor, Paul E. Whitnah.
The OSBI is leading the investigation since Mrs. Hancock is a family member. The OSBI was the organization that made the arrest.
An inquiry into Hancock was brought to the attention of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Inquiry in November 2022, as stated in an affidavit of probable cause, after the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance with the investigation.
What Did Emma Hancock Done? Charges Against Her
According to an affidavit that was obtained by News 9, Emma “Delaney” Hancock, 26, is accused of being the one who began the inappropriate contact in October 2022.
She is said to have texted the Wellston Public Schools student and asked for a copy of a school project.
After a few weeks had passed, the child is said to have sent the replacement instructor on Snapchat a photo of himself without a shirt on.
Will this be the beginning of us sharing each other photos of our nude selves? Hancock chimed in with a response.
The reply from the adolescent was, “I don’t know, are we?”
“Are you trying to get me fired from this job?” According to reports, Hancock stated.
According to the allegations made in the documents, the teacher and the student allegedly began exchanging naked images and videos of sexually explicit content before engaging in two separate instances of physical contact.
According to the allegations made in the complaint, the child went inside Ms. Hancock’s classroom while she was on her lunch break.
They are accused of kissing in the classroom closets and the teacher is suspected of molesting the adolescent during at least one meeting. Both of these incidents are alleged to have occurred.
In addition to this, the student asserted that Hancock would give him permission to use her vape pen.
The student is said to have shared the situation with the substitute instructor with a buddy, who then enquired about it after hearing about it from the student, as stated in the affidavit.
Emma Hancock Denied The Relationship
According to the affidavit, Hancock initially denied having a relationship with the 15-year-old girl, but then she changed her narrative and claimed that they would not be discovered, therefore it would not matter if she did have a relationship with the girl.
The authorities allegedly discovered videos relating to the charges when they executed a search order on the educator’s Snapchat account.
Superintendent Mike Franz has stated that the school administration was made aware of the abuse in the month of November.
After being reported to the proper authorities, Hancock was expelled from the university immediately.
Hancock is facing four separate charges. Two counts of lewd or indecent acts against a child under the age of 16 are included in the accusations, as are two counts of soliciting sexual activity or communication with a juvenile via technology.
If Hancock were convicted of both of these felonies, Oklahoma law would require him to register as a sexual offender.
Even more severe than misdemeanor lewd or indecent acts violations are felony lewd or indecent acts offenses, which are punishable by a minimum of three years in jail and up to twenty years in prison.
The initial affidavit for this case was submitted on April 12, which was the previous Wednesday. On the same day, a warrant for the bench was issued.
According to the official record of the court proceeding, Hancock and her defense attorney, Bill Coyle, submitted not-guilty pleas the following day.
