Police have named 28-year-old Audrey Hale as the shooter who opened fire on students and faculty at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday. Hale may have been a former student at the school.

The police chief said the shooter, identified as 28-year-old Nashville resident Audrey Hale, had used precise maps and surveillance to meticulously plot the attack.

The shooter, Nashville resident Audrey Hale, had no previous criminal record before opening fire at The Covenant School, killing three children and three adults – Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9, Hallie Scruggs, 9, William Kinney, 9, Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61 police said.

Who Is Audrey Hale? Details Of The Strange Incidents

A website that appears to be affiliated with Audrey Hale states that Hale was a Nashville-based graphic designer and illustrator. While Nashville police chief John Drake has publicly recognized Hale as a transgender woman, Audrey Hale has used the “He/Him” pronouns on his LinkedIn profile.

A neighbor of the Hale family said that Audrey Hale and Hale’s “very nice and extremely religious” parents lived in their home. Cyrus Vatandoost, president and CEO of Nossi College of Art & Design in Nashville, stated that Hale had graduated from the institution in 2022.

According to a message that was once published on the school’s Facebook page but has since been taken down, Audrey Hale was presented with at least one award for outstanding academic performance. Using the yearbooks that he still has, the former headmaster of the school, Bill Campbell, stated that he remembers Hale when he was in the third grade in 2005 and the fourth grade in 2006.

According to Campbell, “It’s just an absolute tragedy what’s happened by the former student and what she did to the teachers and students,” and he used the phrase “absolute tragedy.”

At approximately 10:13 a.m., Hale is said to have shot through a locked door to enter the school while armed with two assault-style rifles and a handgun. After entering the school, Hale is said to have climbed the stairs to the second floor and opened fire from there.

At 10:27 a.m., two Nashville police officers entered the school after hearing gunshots, and they fatally shot Audrey Hale. Drake added that a neighboring vehicle gave detectives evidence of the shooter’s identity.

According to public records, Audrey Hale’s home location is three miles from the Covenant School. The FBI, ATF, and local police roped off the home with crime scene tape on Monday afternoon. The investigation is currently focusing on a “manifesto” and other documents discovered by police.

Drake lauded his police for their swift action in confronting the shooter. “It might have been far, far worse,” he remarked. According to the authorities, Audrey Hale’s writings suggested that The Covenant School was not the only target the killer had in mind.
