Who Is Des Hasler? New Gold Coast Titans Head Coach To Replace Justin Holbrook
Des Hasler will take over as the Gold Titans’ head coach beginning with the next season after head coach Justin Holbrook has been fired immediately.
Des will replace Holbrook as the head coach starting next season in 2024. The club decided that Holbrook needed to be fired immediately in order to achieve their goal of winning the premiership.
The Sea Eagles won the championship in 2008 and 2011, and Hasler, a former Manly coach, also guided the Canterbury Bulldogs to two grand final appearances in 2012 and 2014.

Who Is Des Hasler?
Des Hasler is one of the prominent legendary rugby players. Des is also well-known for being a former rugby league footballer who played and coached with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, where he won four championships. In 2012, he received the Daily M. Award for Best Coach.

Hasler is a native of Wales, born on February 16, 1961. On the 1987 Sea Eagles team that won the NSEWL Premiership, he played alongside Michael O’Connor.
After starting off with the Penrith Panthers, Des played for Manly Warringah Sea Eagles for most of his playing career, where he won the premierships.
Hasler returned to Manly after playing for Hull F.C. in England for a season before wrapping up his playing career with the Western Suburbs Magpies.
He also participated in the State of Origin for New South Wales, NSW City, and Australia. Between 2004 and 2011, Hasler led Manly to two further championships in 2008 and 2011.
Des Hasler: Rugby Career Explored
Des Hasler started playing in first grade in 1982 with the Penrith Panthers but soon switched to the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
Bob Fluton offered Hasler a trial at Manly and chose him to play for the Sea Eagles in 1984 after he had only appeared in 12 games for the Perinth club in 1982 and 1983.
Hasler was frequently picked to sit on the bench in representative football due to his value as a utility player.
After hundreds of games in several seasons, Des gave his maximum and became one of the most well-known legendary rugby players ever.
In 2004, Des Hasler took the place of head coach for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. For the first time since the late 1990s, he took the team to the semi-finals in the season of 2005, 2006, and 2007.
He initially agreed to remain coaching Manly till the 2012 campaign, however, on November 11, 2022, the board of directors of Manly fired him due to serious breaches of his contract.
In November 2011, Hasler began working for Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs as their head coach for the 2012 NRL season.
He achieved quick success, leading the team to a minor premiership and a finish eight places higher than the previous season. In 2017, Hasler announced his retirement from the position of head coach for the Bulldogs.
Later, Hasler joined the Manly as their new head coach for the 2019 season. After three years of coaching, Des Hasler was terminated from the position of Manly’s head coach in 2022. In June 2023, he announced that he’ll be coaching the Gold Coast Titans for the next season in 2024.
